Default Shifting Problem?!?!

So when I'm in 3rd gear and get on her and go to slam it into 4th, I'm having a problem where it wants to go back into 2nd? Would this be a problem with the stock shifter? I bought her used and I'm not to sure of everything the guy before me did to it. Just got it last week and haven't had a chance to really check her out. Would a Steeda or Pro 5.0 fix this for me?
