Default question about my laptop

I'm leaving for Buffalo tonight so I'm taking my laptop with me and really want to use it in the car.
How do I charge it in the car? Converter or inverter?
Also, will I damage it at all by doing so?

It's called a power INverter. No you won't hurt anything, just get an ACsurge protector in addition to the inverter if you get one that doesn't already have one built in.
