Default A Very Sad Day.....

Tuesday the Animal Shelter that I volunteer at did a rescue on a 6 to 8 month old puppy that fell into an asphalt pit. It was so sad and the volunteers worked all hours of the day and night to help her and this morning she passed on. She was such a sweet puppy. Below is the story and some pretty graphic pics of this puppy. Everyone at our shelter has been in tears all day. The workers at the Animal Hospital were awsome in letting us come in and work on her in there hospital. She required 24 hour care. The little puppy had to be cut out of the asphalt pit. [&o]It aired on television today and we have had numerous calls anddonations to help with the bill.

Dear Channel 5 News,

Partners4Pets, a non profit no kill shelter in Troy, IL was contacted by a local vet in reference to a young dog that fell into an asphalt pit. Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital contacted Lisa McCormick, founder of Partners and she agreed to take the dog at all expense. She contacted me and another volunteer at the shelter, Sue Blackshere and we responded immediately to the clinic to help assist with the dog. Employees at the vet clinic worked on this dog approximately two hours before me and my friend arrived to assist. We spent another two and a half hours trying to get the asphalt off the dog by using Crisco, Dawn dish washing detergent, mayonnaise, and cooking oil. The employees tried shaving the dog as well. In addition she was given morphine several times for pain. It was determined by Dr. Randla that the dog needed to rest and he was going to continue to work on the young dog this evening. As you can see by the enclosed photos we are hoping that you can provide a news story in addition to asking the public for donations to help cover the vet costs. Vet employees named the young lab pup Ashley. You can contact Lisa McCormick at 618-972-5572 or Dr. David Hall at Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital at 618-344-7949.

Sincerely, Mary Parker and Sue Blackshere, Volunteers 618-709-6809

These pics were taken after about 8 hours of them cleaning her up. She was alot worse before they started. Yesterday when they tried cleaning the asphalt off, her skin started coming off from the burn of the asphalt. She was a fighter. [&o]

That is horrible!
I dont know why I always get more sad over a suffering animal than a suffering human.
