So I checked the schedule two days ago to see when I was working. I was supposed to be working 2pm to 9pm today as per what the schedule said two days ago, I checked it a couple times that day. Today the bossman called me at 12:30 today wondering where I was. I said I work at 2 today and then he tells me he has me on the schedule for 12 to 9.
Obviously he changed the schedule without even telling me about it. I'm never late to work nor do I ever miss shifts. He told me it was an "honest mistake," but I don't think it's my mistake at all.
Thoughts????

Don't be stupid, my friends never pick up the phone and don't have an answering machine for this specific reason. Caller ID is your friend, don't pick up when work calls(or your boss/coworkers) and you can't get screwed for work changed schedules/more hrs/extra days unless your a work whore and like that stuff.

yeah, don't pick up even if there is an emergency because someone has to leave work due to their kid being hospitalized and someone has to cover for them....or anything like that. don't be stupid.
so far as "if you don't pick up you can't get screwed", have fun dealing with them the next time you go to work.

there's never an emergency situation where work should take priority over your day off. oh no, the company will have to run short-staffed, we'll all die.

I don't think they're trying to get rid of me, I've worked there for years and even the guys above me tell me I'm the best worker they have (I go out for wings and burgers with them every week). But my main boss is really really quirky. Some days he'll be your best buddy busting on you all the time and other days when he's in a bad mood he's strict. He's never yelled at anyone but he has this tone of voice that he uses to let you know you're in the wrong...the same tone of voice he used with me on the phone.
This type of last minute change to the schedule has never happened to me and it must've happened yesterday. I use to always run off copies of the schedule, I'm going to start doing that again from now on.
Oh, and my little sister answered the phone...I was stuck

Exactly, and my friends only get 1-2 days off a week and how would you like to work on your day off just so it's a little easier for everyone else? All jobs are overstaffed anyway and get away with 1 or 2 workers missing a day of workjust fine.
