I have a 68 Mustang coupe that currently has a 200ci 6cyl, auto in it and I plan on swapping it out for a 351w manual trans. My question is what need to be done and how hard is the swap, also how hard is it to swap the auto for a manual trans and what is a good manual trans for the 351w? Sorry for all the questions

It's a relatively easy swap, however, there is a lot of work involved: You would need the 351 motor, motor and frame mounts,a complete V-8 front suspension, braking system and rear end,not to mention the different underhood wiring for the V-8. For the manual trans, you would need: the tranny(recommend a 4-speed or newer model 5-speed),bellhousing,tranny mount, driveshaft, complete clutch assy, flywheel, associated clutch linkage/springs,clutch pedal assembly, pilot shaft bushing, and misc. parts. It would basically take you a whole parts car to do the swap correctly and to get all the necessary parts involved. A lot of work. Why don't you just either keep the 200 and wait to find the right V-8 equipped car, or go to www.cliffordperformance.com and check out what they have to hop up the six to be as powerful as an 8(it can be done to the 200-it's a strong motor). Also check out www.fordsix.com, they talk about this stuff all the time.
