alright $100 bet on this. My friend just got a 2000 Mustang GT but it is a 35th anneversary. I said WTF 2000-35 is 1965 not 1964. He swears by it but he also has that cheazy black peice on the trunk which i know was an option for only 1999. Am i right about this or do i owe him the $100.

The Mustang was actually released in early April of 64 weeelll before the 65 model year officially began. That's part of the reason you hear about the 64 1/2 cars. Really no such thing because ss far as Ford is concerned, there was only the '65 model year. BUT any classic Mustang fan will tell you anything prior to September '65 is considered a 64 1/2 or early '65. And there are many many many differences between a 64 1/2 and a 65.
Trivia: The rarest engine option for a Mustang was the "D-code". It was a 4v 289 produced ONLY between April and September of 1964.
So in short, 1999 is the official 35th anniversary year.
