today i purchased a white 4 cylinder mustang hatch... to go with my 88 5.0
i dont know how many of you were used to driving five ohs before you got the 4 banger but let me tell you i felt like a snail in but gas is 4 dollars a gallon so its an ok trade... any suggestions that dont involve a turbo to pick up the acceleration a little?

Swap out Engine with a Merkur, T-bird or SVO.... Easiest and most cost effective

Yes, port&polish intake and exhaust manifolds, CAI, and possibly a cam, though I beleive it wouldget you worse gas mileage. And maintanence. If the car wasn't maintained very well it will be even slower. I think I must've gained a second in 0-60 times just by getting up with maintanence. You could even go as far as putting in 3:73 gears, but I don't think it's worth it to spend the money there. Then there's more extreme stuff like underdrive pullies, a/c and smog deletes (if no emissions testing), freer flowing exhaust, and of course losing any excess weight. But if you are looking for less than about 7 second 0-60 times, it'll take a lot. N/A 2.3 takes a lot to go "fast".

I didn't start with a 5.0, and don't have one yet, I'm only 16 and don't have v8 money. So I have a 2.3[&o] In a couple years though...

Here 2k doesn't hardly buy a 5.0 parts car. Literally. I found one 5.0 for $2500 with no cam and body damage.

Slow is correct I built the 89 turbo first and then bought a 90 2.3 na to fix and sell. Big differance. Consider a turbo swap. Not expensive. Sure does wake up the car. And still get good mileage.
