Default New Guy Needs Reliable Performance

I just bought a 2008 GT w/stick. I was looking set some Reliable performance mods that won't void my warranty. I am currently considering the BBK CAI and the Borla Cat-Back exhaust. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions or if you knew how much rwhp this setup would produce? Also if I have my computer tuned will it void my warranty(that would really make the wife mad!)?

well capital ford in wilmington nc says that only what a ford dealership installs will be warrantied. and they only sell roush and ford motorsports products. doesnt leave you many options. i would call a few ford dealerships around your area. good luck...

Mods would void your warranty if they're the casue of the problem. most likely a lazy ford dealership looking for a reason not to help. I wouldn't do the bbkj intake, but thats just me. Jlt, c&l would be better choices, imo. The factory mids flow real good on our cars, if you just want a different tone, go with just the axleback setup. A tune could void a warranty. When getting ready to take in for warranty work or service. Earlier remove cai, put stock airbox on, flash factory tune back in. Drive around enough in stock form for the computer to re-cycle itself and learn again stock. Then take in for service. Wife wouldn't tell the computer was tuned. I'm sure the exhaust difference though.

I have the BBK CAI and a Brenspeed tune. Don't have exact HP numbers but CAI/Tune combos are all about the same ~20 HP. The biggest change IMO is the throttle response, so much better with the Brenspeed tune.

It takes 30 min max (if you are slow) to swap intake and Tune. Like 'brad281' said - If you are worried about warranty, just swap back to stock anytime you take the car to the dealer.

I voided the powertrain and suspension warranty within a week. As for as your wife is concerned, just install the goodies at your buddy's house.

Cat backs don't really add much power if any to a GT. Instead of purchasing the cat back you should probably go for axle backs (new mufflers) and only if you want a different sound.
