dang it..talk about worst luck.
my 2nd attempt on installing the rear window louvers flops.
I installed the brackets last night and it ended up raining overnight, the brackets got loose and
the adhesive was moist to the touch.I took them all off being careful not to bend the brackets
themselves, wiped off any water and placed them on plastic zip lock bags then cut around
them to preserve whatever stickiness is left over.
my question is,after they dry off do you all think I will be able to reuse them? or did the water
absorb into it and ruin it?
they still feel kinda sticky to the touch,I think that once the water dries up it should be fine??

I did all of the above EXCEPT for not driving the car for 48 hours. I drove the car 2 hours later and I've had my louvers on for 2 years with NO issues. Just an FYI

Do I remove the old 3m or would putting a new layer directly on top of the old one be okay?
I would remove all traces of any old tape. Not only can it interfere with adhesion, but it will probably also be in the way and not allow you to mount the brackets flush to the car. If you're going to do it, do it right.
I have used laquer thinner to remove old tape, but some people feel this chemical is too harsh. I didn't have any problems at all though. You can get some 3M stuff from Home Depot though that is made specifically to take it off. I forget the name but it's in the paint dept.
Styles...
I didn't officially wait 48 hours either. I also put a spoiler on my friend's car (Foose ducktail) and I had it on a little crooked....and even after 5 seconds on the car, it was damn near IMPOSSIBLE to get back off. I made it work though.

I put my gt500 spoiler on, 3-4 hours later I was driving the car at 70+ and even took it threw the delta sonic car wash. Guess I was just asking for trouble but so far so good, everything is still solid as a rock.
If they're Astra-Hammond louvers, call them and they'll ship you allnew hardware free.
Follow the directions to the letter. Surface prep is major as is the 24 hour cure time with NO DRIVING.

I applied a healthy dosage of adhesive premotor onto the rear window where I put the brackets.
I then applied clear sealent around all the edges to weather proof it..24 hours later and they stuck!
it's been about a week or so since I had put them on an they seem to be holding on strong.
The adhesive premotor and sealent also seems to help out alot as well.
