Default 01GT vs 94Formula

I saw him going the other direction with 4 younger kids in the car and they were looking of course it is a mustang. So I gave them a rev they turned around. I was like hey I night get a race out of this. So he gets next to me and say wanna run for slips, I didn't hear a S/C or turbo and it definately had no cam. So I asked if he had nos he said no. I told him I will race you for fun if he wanted he said ok. So we went to this road that he picked out a little narrow for my taste but it will do. We go from a dig and went to about 80. I had about 4-5 cars on him by then and we shut down. We pulled over and he told me that he just got the car and didn't have much time to do anything to it. And he said there were some things wrong with it that he needed to fix.(Yeah right) I started talking to him about stuff to do to his car and it was like I was speaking Japanese to him he had no idea what I was talking about. He had a dog-o-matic a chip and exhaust for mods.

What do they run stock and what should they run with those mods?
HP ratings????

93 and 94 models are turds. they run somewhere in the 14's and the janky ones will only hit 15's. They make somewhere in the mid 250 hp range thats just a rough guess. The are not really my favorite type of cars.

That is the earlier years of the LT1 which was rated at 275. The rating was bumped up to 285 for the 96-97 models I believe. From everything I have heard from everyone else on this board, is that they are fair game for a 99+ GT. Stock for stock they should be fairly close if everything is in good running condition.

When my 94 Z28 had a cat back exhaust and a programmer(chip) it ran 13.91 @ 99mph and it was a "dog-o-matic". By no means was it impressive but it was a run for a nearly stock GT. After full exhaust, a stall, and gears it would go high 12's @ 105-6mph.

My old 95Z was an auto with 80,000 miles and the only upgrade was a generic pacesetter catback from J.C.Whitney. It ran a 14.11@97. I raced a friend with an auto 2000GT and won by a length. That 95Z was strong. It felt like it had more low end than my LS1. But thats because the torque curve on the LT1 comes on at a earlier rpm.

race for slips? i've never had a random person pull up next to me and ask me that. i'm sure he would have given you his car if he lost though.

So should he have ran better than he did? Or are they a slow pos like reaper said?

Stock LT1s are pathetically slow, but put one in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing and they could become something you want no part of. Nice kill though

I wouldn't call an almost 14 flat in my old stock LT1 pathetically slow. You all must be driving ones that are ragged out. If my 95Z would have been a 6 speed I guarantee in would have run 13's. It was almost there with a 14.11.
