Default INFO/OPINIONS NEEDED - '05 GT Purchase

Hi everyone,
I joined this forum "stangless" with hopes to gather information to make a good Mustang GT purchase. I don't have the "ching" to step-up to a new one, so I'm perusing the used car market. The reason for my post is that I have come across a sweet, flawless, low mileage '05 that has really raised my attention.
I know from year-to-year that manufacturers make quality improvement to their products. Also a first year model vehicle can be sometime "problemsome" until the "bugs" are worked out (usually in the later year models).
I suspect that this generation (05-08) are basically the same vehicle i.e. 4.6 3-valve, 5-speed auto, same rear axle, etc, etc.
My question is this:
Does the '05 differ is any great way from later year models that would make me want to "stay away" from a first year vehicle? The car I'm looking at is a 5 speed auto and I know this is the first year for a 5 speed auto in this vehicle for Ford. Are there any great improvements that may lead me to look for a later year vehicle instead of this '05?
I think you know what I'm asking....Any information/comments etc. would help me immensely. Thanks.

I think besides the bug the other difference is the gearing. Is the 05 you are looking at an auto or man. If it is a man it comes standard with 3.55 gears if auto it will have 3.31. For 08 3.55 gear is an $300 option.

Make sure all the TSB have been done, or if you buy it have them done immediately.

I've put 6,000 trouble-free miles on my used '05 GT and I love it. I got the same car you buy at the dealer for almost half the sticker price. You buy it, call Ford and give them your VIN number, and the will give you an exact build date and will tell you if any recalls need to be performed; if any (my car didn't have any pending recalls).

I've had no problems with my car, and it has responded well to all mods.

I paid $300 for gears that were stock on 05s? That sucks

I couldn't get rid of my '99 GT fast enough to put the money down on my 2005!

I've owned my vert three years in April, and have never been back to the dealer.
