Default Anybody know a great Mustang aftermarket shop in NJ?

Preferably Northern Jersey, I am in Hasbrouck heights (bergen county).

If anyone knows a place that won't rip me off to lower my car or install a CAi and tune, wheels, etc.... Please let me know. Thanks!!

JDM in Freehold has the best rep in NJ that I'm aware of. I think they are a bit pricey but they are mustang pros

JDM is def the best known in New Jersey....but they are not GREAT by any means. And yes you will get ripped off. I only went there for one reason and it was because I needed gears installed and I was nervous they would whine and I was sure they have done alot before. The first available was 3 months away so I waited. They didnt have my car pulled in the shop for a full week, this is my daily driver by the way. They BSed me all week long. I cant even tell you how many times I was told that my car was just getting done and to call back in an hour. So I would call back and then they would say, your car should be pulled in first thing in the morning. They jerked me around soo much. The day it was finished....they called me at 1230 and said we are just pulling in your car and it will be done tomm morning....I was pretty pissed because it was sitting in the parking lot for a week but whatever it sounded like the truth.I get a call a half hour later and they tell me its all done. Supposedly they were getting my car mixed up with another one or something. I would never recommend them for anything. And also the charged 525 dollarsin labor to install gears!!!! what a f'ing rip off. I was soo mad at the whole situation...I should have never ever gone there. I know a good place in south jersey but sorry none in north jersey

I'm not surprised, this seems typical of performance shops. Find a shop that really needs the business. I too wanted to have my gears installed at a shop that specialized in mustangs, big mistake. I got jerked around on the phone, but I just walked in and took my car back and no one even noticed.

I then took it to a shop that did a little bit of everything and drag raced on the weekends. They did an outstanding job. I'll be taking it back to get a trutrac installed soon, i'm sure.

I know of a really good local shop in Belleville, right off RT21 called Valley Performance. Take 17 South to 3 west, then get off on RT 21 south, take the Lyndhurst/Nutley exit. Make a left off the exit, go through the light , you are on River Rd in Nutley. (it turns into Main Ave in Belleville) Go about a mile or so down the road, turn right on Greylock Ave, the shop is on the right a few feet in from where you turn. Next to TraPar transmissions. The owner's name is Alfredo, really good guy, he does top notch work. He works on '65's to '08's, anything you need. He did a CAI/tune on my car (he's an SCT authorized dealer) and the tune was great. He's also done a ton of work for people in the area. Small business, doesn't advertise like the big shops, he's known by word of mouth, and his prices are great!

Valley Prformance
10 Greylock Ave
Belleville, NJ
07109
(973) 751-7505

ask for Alfredo. if you go, say Jimmy & Rob from Lyndhurst sent ya!

I have an appointment in 2 weeks over at JDMso I hope that isn't the case for me. Sounds like the installation went well though because you haven't said anything negative about their work - which is always a good thing.

Sometimes I ratherpay more to guarantee things are going to be done right (this includes all the little things) instead of having trouble down the line with inexperienced shops...

Im only responding to motoxdirtrider84 post in direct here...

Charley,

Im sorry that your appointment took longer than was anticipated and that you thought the labor charge was too much. In our defense we did contact you almost everyday to let you know what was going on with the car. You also called several times and each time we explained our situation.

The week that you dropped off was a very busy time for us. It was the week that we attended the first race of the season for us (Fun Ford Weekend) down in orlando. While most of the shop was out during that time alot of cars got backed up. We normally dont run into a situation like this but if we do we try and stay in touch with the customer. Which i thought we did a good job of that. I know you say you recieved a phone call in confusion about the car being down a half hour after we said it was not started but that is a simple human mistake. We had a new guy in the office starting that week, Chris, who has turned out to be a real asset to our team but as in anyones first couple of days on the job there was some confusion and you were accidentally notified of the wrong message.

The price of the install i never knew you were upset with, when you picked up the car everything was fine, it seemed as if you were happy with everything. I wish you would have spoken to us first about it however. The labor was 6 hrs on your supplied gears, labor rate on gears is a varying charge, they set up differently in every car. Your car had to have the gears reset twice while it was here but the result outcome should be a very quiet rear end. We dont do things half ass here, if we here a noise or we aren't 100% happy with the way something came out we are going to fix it and do it again.Which is also why we spent the extra time to fit your exhaust tips properly. The Cervini's side exhaust is very very very tricky and honestly is the most difficult exhaust to deal with when working underneath a new mustang. We did what we thought was best and tried to fix the tips so that they were aligned perfectly. Little things like that we pay attention to.

Bottom line is it did take longer than you expected, but you knew the whole time and we thought you understood our predicament with just simply having a very busy week, you seem upset about it now, but still in the overalloutcome, was there a problem with anything we did to the car?

Thanks for letting me tell our side of the story, hope everyone has a great day.

Jim,
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Thanks for the response.&nbsp\\; One thing I will say, is that I was very pleased with the qaulity of the work.&nbsp\\; I have absolutely no whine and that is what I expected getting it installed from you guys.&nbsp\\; That is why I waited 2 or so months. If it was a busy week, why was I scheduled then?&nbsp\\; Unfort this is my daily driver which meant I had to rent a car for a week while it just sat in a parking lot.&nbsp\\; I should have just been called up and asked to drop it off a week later.&nbsp\\; I was just giving my honest opinion.&nbsp\\; Sometimes the smaller shops are better because they really do value your business. All in all, JDM does good work, maybe the customer service will be better next time.
