I had my titanium, coated JBA shorties installed today...

My very first thought, as I fired 'er up and gave a few revs... woah! Freakin' awesome sound! She revs harder and faster than before... and the sound... ah... yeah.. it's no V8... but it's damn sweet. The clip doesn't do it justice. I was not expecting such a fantastic improvement. It was just getting into rush hour on the drive home, but there was a noticeable increase in torque. Stop light to stop light was a lot of fun.

$285 for a 4 hour install (Total Car Care in Gresham, Oregon... great guys) plus the price of headers ($622 plus shipping) at http://www.v6mustangstuff.com/

Other mods include: K&N drop-in air filter and single GT take-off axle-back muffler.

Here's a clip on my premium redfire 05 V6 with sport appearance package.

http://transcendingtouch.com/mustang/05V6_gtmuffler_jbaheader.mp3

oh... when I was leaving to go pick up my car today, the neighbor played catch up and drove up in his new screaming yellow V6... nearly identical to mine(minus my mods), only he had these interesting side guards on his doors (didnd't care for 'em). Well, now there's 2 'stangs in the cul-de-sac!

Found them here. I think the price may have come up a tad.

Looking and comparing the MAC headers to the JBA headers, it seems hard to justify paying 3x as much. I'm sure the JBA headers are better in some ways, but that's a pretty damned high price tag. I think I'll just wait for the MACs to come available.

Your ride sounds pretty sweet, though! :)

Flapjack... I originally ordered MAC headers, but found their customer service to be a bit sleepy (ie... not explaining why my order was delayed, not giving any indication of when they'd ship, not having really any knowledge about the product and 10 minutes on hold and forgetting about my call). Maybe I called too early in the day before the lads had their coffee. They were back-ordered for weeks, so I cancelled my order and have not regretted it. I turned to the JBAs after hearing of their excellent build quality in all of these forums. My installer was very impressed with the quality and had no problems whatsoever putting them on.

MAC may be very comparable and I've heard their quality has risen quite a bit. I just had a poor experience with their service on the phone.

And, thanks... I'm really enjoying the sound!

So, they sound sweet!! How about perfomance?? Can you notice a major difference in power? I spoke to JBA a few weeks ago and they stated in the next thirt days they would have dyno results... however, still have not heard anything. I agree, JBA is the way to go instead of the MAC... Quality makes a HUGE difference!

Doc... there is a very noticeable increase in hp/tq. At a stop with the breaks on, she surges beneath you. She lives to rev... much faster and harder than before or even with just the GT axle-back (which was a nice improvement over stock). I haven't done a dyno yet or taken it on the freeway... just stop and go city traffic. I'll open 'er up a bit more this afternoon.

JBA had a dyno on their site of the 4.0L Ranger with headers, ignition wires and their evolve axle-back that shows about a 17hp gain. I'd guess similar gains with the headers and GT muffler (or maybe any higher flowing muffler). She was fun before, but now she's starting to feel like a true muscle car... from a single exhaust even!

Now, I'm just waiting for the right high-flow air intake and tune then I may be about done.

If you are looking for a CAI, I have the MMR and it works great with the SCT. I gained about 21 HP with it. I also ordered the Inlet tube this week, probably will not gain a whole lot, but cannot hurt. The only thing is, MMR wants $85 dollars for their tune if you already have the SCT. I just had the place I took my car for dyno create a tune for me, worked great. Well, I am going to have to wait a month or two before the headers, I am putting on my 4.10 gears sometime this week... gonna cost about 625, when all said and done. This is an expensive hobby!

I've been really considering the MMR intakes. The high flow tube looks like a good one. Steeda and C&L are working on V6 intakes, so I'm going to wait a bit for more options.

hey... just noticed that MMR has high flow shorties on their site now for $350! Add $100 for ceramic coating. That might be the perfect compromise between the MACs and the JBAs.

Contacted MMR today in refernace to their headers... Those are ONLY for the V8. Was kind of excited for a moment. Oh well, JBA is a good quality... so I will probably end up going with those no matter what.

Doc.. sorry for stearing you in the wrong direction with the MMR headers. I didn't notice they were for the GT. You'll dig the JBA's... they've been my favorite investment so far.
