Just a short story since I'm stoked...
So my dad (who is a dealer) calls me last week and tells me that one his wholesalers has what looks to be an 01 Saleen SC Vert with only 49K miles. He said he couldn't tell if it was real because it was missing a couple of things. I called Saleen and they ran the VIN and sure enough the car was authentic, complete with the chrome wheels, supercharger, and upgraded hood.
I figured the price would be out of reach, but asked him to see what they could do on it. NADA avg retail is 27K, high is 31K. He calls back with the price...
$14,000
I was shocked. I did a CarFax and it checked out. Went and drove it on Thursday and it seems real solid. No signs of previous body work. The front bumper and hood need repainting from rock chips and such, needs tires, and the spoiler/side scoops need to be retaped. nothing major. but overall incredible for the price.
I don't think the dealer knew the car was a true Saleen, and a guy there said that a lot of customers dismissed it as a fake because the serial # was missing on the bumper. (I could see the faint outline from where someone removed it).
I'll post pics as the car comes in and keep you all updated on the 'mild restoration' as it progresses.
