Okay, theres an Evo that i see every morning on my way back from the gym. Its always going my way, and its on a bypass-like road and the speed limit is 70. There are several lights scattered along the way, so my question is, should I race him? I want to see what they have, but I also want to know what to expect. In your opinion, could I get him, or will I get ate? My mods are below...

My best friend has an evo.. their are very good launchin cars but also very hard to launch.. they r also not a top end car .. so if he gets u off the line by the en of third u should be next to him or you could be in front of him. if u dont race him from a dig u should pull.. i have a 03 cobra with I/H/E and a 100 shot and i rape them but try him from a roll, if not better get a good launch... and another thing.. is he stock??
even if you hook well, those things have awesome launching capabilites. with only those mods, if he gets a good launch, your toast.
So you're saying that with all those mods his car still can't break into the 13's? He should win against a stock Evo, he will get eat up outta the hole but should catch up by 50 or so. Evo's are low 14 cars and this guys stang should beat him, if not he wasted a lot of money on pointless mods.

I wouldn't say he wasted his money on pointless mods, but what I would say is that those mods would be more worthwhile if there was more done to the engine. Either way I'd say it'd be close until speeds got silly. small displacement AWD cars aren't in their element above 100. (not from the factory anyway)

evos are hard cars to drive. If the dude never takes it to the track and doesnt know how to make it go you will destroy him. I have seen them in the 15's. They have to be launched at a high rpm so if hes idleing you know you got him. lol

I don't want to do anything to the motor itself due to losing warranty. My uncle is director of service and I would get a lecture.lol.. I do have 251.56 horses touching the ground, and 289 pounds of torque as well. And, I can drive, so I think I will give it a try. I will post the results of the race as soon as it happens. Thanks guys..

Sorry to say but EVO's are very capable of better then a low 14, unless your a horrible driver. Ive been to the track and have seen them usually hit mid to high 13's. Check this site out http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0307scc_stievo/.
It compares the STI and EVO. Towards the bottom of the page it shows you the specs and performance numbers.

Evo's have a about 175 or 185 hp. No doubt about it, they do cut ass. But if u shifty like a hoss, torque should help u in first. I have no idea wut happens after that, but if u should race, depend on 1st!

you guys are out of your minds..... an idiot driving an evo 8 will run like a 13.2, nevermind if whoever is driving knows what they are doing... and they also have top end out the A$$, usually they run the same time i do when im on slicks... and theyre stock.... u will be embarassed, ive done highway pulls on them too, they kill you
Ausdog123 Evos have a s**t load more hp than 175 or 185...try 271. His 1st gear will do nothing against an evo. Its in the higher gears and rpms where he will have a chance at pulling on it.
yo redneck....u r talkin about the evo 8 right?? cuz if u r even with your mods it'll b hard 2 beat him even if hes not the best driver out there...those evo 8's r sick!

Hey, I am bringing this thread back to life only due to matching up with an EVO. I was out in town looking for races, and saw an evo up ahead. I caught up with him and had my cousin roll down his window to grab his attention(my cousin is 198pounds, but couldn't just make him get out so I could race). Anyways, he agreed to go from a dig, so I lead him to a nice straight road just outside of town. We did a three honk start. The guy did not bring the engine up to high rpms, more like 1500 or something.... Dumba$$. I launched at around 2000, came out slipping a bit, but still pulling hard. I got him from the start and he was at my right rear fender. He could not pull on me, nor could I pull on him until about the beginning of my third gear and I inched up just a tad. We ran up to about 80, and were forced to stop by oncoming traffic. We stopped and chatted for at least 30 minutes. I didn't realize those things were so nice. He said he COULD HAVE launched harder with more rpms, but hey, a win is a win... And yes, its possible he wasn't the best driver in the world...
