if the cobra is stock i say give him hell!!! either way it'll be a good race, and of course we'd all love to see them in action up close, even if it means an ass raping for bolt on GT guys like me.

Yeah, I think that you will be able to keep up for a little while, I've watched a video of Cobra racing an SS on the highway, but it wasnt pretty for the SS. I suppose he didn't have mods like you.
PS, take you little boy for a race, get him acclimatized to going fast, and he'll be a good racer when he gets older! My dad always drove fast in our GTO, it works wonders.

are you stock?
no i am not mods include, lid, gears, cam, headers, still have stock clutch and 10bolt rear
10 bolt sucks, be careful if you run slicks or street slicks. 10 bolt + M6 + massive amounts of torque = grenaded rear end.
A stock SS can keep it close to a stock Cobra. Add mods (like he has) to the SS and he may be able to edge past him... It'll be pretty close either way.
Keep in mind that just because someoen has a car that can run 12.5s doesn't mean they will...

No it doesn't, but if he does....Bye bye SS. 4.10's in a ls1 is disaster coming out of the hole. Too Tall. They are more of a highway car and not a wholeshot car...
well on paper, the cobra should beat the camaro, but in all actuallity, the camaro would blow the tires off the cobra (sorry guys). how is this possible u may be asking? a little known fact about chevy...they lie about the power for purely insurance reasons. Example...in 1991 the z-28 350 5.7 said it had about 285hp, but it really had close to 390, it was the chip that held it back...its the same way for the ss, but how much more it has has yet to be revealed. so all cobras had better hope that they come across a stock (chip too) camaro, or it will be nothing more than a garter snake...lol
In 1991 the Z28 wasn't rated at 285hp, that didn't happen til 97 I believe. As for this "chip," I have no idea what you're talking about but I do know that f-body motors are very underrated, not enough to run with the new Cobras, but underrated. If there is a "chip" to give me that much of a gain, lemme know where I can get one b/c I want it.

haha wtf??? it was factory rated at 285...but has close to 390? No f**king way in hell they underated the engine by 105 hp. Last I knew the 91 Z28 had a 5.0 in it rated at 230 hp. I know they had the 350 back then, but it wasn't at no 390 hp. The 285 hp 5.7 LT1s didn't come out until 1996, up from 275 the year before thanks to a hotter cam.

Okay, first off to clear up some problems...
91 Z28's came with 305 TPI's, 305 TBI's and 350 TPI's.
305 automatics were 220hp
305 5-speeds were 230hp
350 Automatics were 240hp, and it was the only transmission offered because of the GOBS of torque this motor made.
Your statement about 285hp and 390 in actuality is total bulls**t and ignorance. In the 4th generation Camaro, the LT1's weren't underrated at 280-285hp. The LS1's were underrated, they are advertised for 305-310hp. They actually put 300-320RWHP down STOCK (the 2001-2002 nearing 320 because of the LS6 option) and they are making alittle over 350-360hp at the crank.

If both drivers are good, then the SS has absolutely no chance against the Cobra. SS's put down the same HP numbers as a stock Z28, the ram air is only beneficial at speeds above 60mph. Meaning it will put down 300-320hp, add 5hp for the ram air. The Cobra on the other hand is underrated at 390hp, and put's down 360rwhp in stock form. No way a 320-325hp car will hang with a 360hp car.
