Yeah it depends on who is driving the 03. I saw a rich kid at the track runnin low 9's in the 1/8th. Pretty pathetic. I think he needed a shifter and some driving lessons. I'm a mustang lover, but I'd rather have an automatic Ls1 than an '03.
A stock SS can keep it close to a stock Cobra. Add mods (like he has) to the SS and he may be able to edge past him... It'll be pretty close either way.
Keep in mind that just because someoen has a car that can run 12.5s doesn't mean they will...

If both drivers are good, then the SS has absolutely no chance against the Cobra. SS's put down the same HP numbers as a stock Z28, the ram air is only beneficial at speeds above 60mph. Meaning it will put down 300-320hp, add 5hp for the ram air. The Cobra on the other hand is underrated at 390hp, and put's down 360rwhp in stock form. No way a 320-325hp car will hang with a 360hp car.

True dat all the way to the bank yo. I cannot argue with that. But how many people with these cars do you actually know took some sort of NON mandatory driving class? None probably. We're all retards who think we can drive...but we can't...well at least I can't.

Guys after witnessing a car similarly modded to the Fbody in this thread run, and a modded 03 Cobra, unless the Cobra has some slicks or really sticky tires, that SS is gonna run right past him. I have seen cars with less run 11's and still I havent seen an 03 Cobra run faster than a 12.5 and it had alot done to it. Most of the Cobra owners are more afraid of chuckin a halfshaft than they are of losing.
Still I like Cobra's but they arent the be all end all. Now if Ford would drop in the 5.4 with the blower, then get some good tires, now we are talkin.

well on paper, the cobra should beat the camaro, but in all actuallity, the camaro would blow the tires off the cobra (sorry guys). how is this possible u may be asking? a little known fact about chevy...they lie about the power for purely insurance reasons. Example...in 1991 the z-28 350 5.7 said it had about 285hp, but it really had close to 390, it was the chip that held it back...its the same way for the ss, but how much more it has has yet to be revealed. so all cobras had better hope that they come across a stock (chip too) camaro, or it will be nothing more than a garter snake...lol

Cobras are overated.... i like mustang and everything i own an 86 GT myself but i wouldnt spend all that money on a car id be afraid to rip other cars a new ass with.... Cobras are just to high maintence and 5.0GT with the money you spend on the cobra you can make the 5.0GT much faster and dont havta worry when something breaks. But back to topic lol. The camero ss and cobra stock on stock from a street light the camero would lose but from a certain speed im thining the cameroa would win "Typos"
