Maxima has less power, weighs about dead even, according to autos.msn.com runs 16.55 in the 1/4

The cobra has 90hp/90ft-lbs more than the STi, and it weighs a good 400 lbs more. And when you say there are plenty of Cobra's in the 9's with nitrous, what do you mean by plenty? 9 seconds is seriously fast, and while I don't doubt that it's possible, I wonder how many of those are daily drivers

mid 15s. wow just what my Civic runs with a good launch.

I still don't think the WRX was really giving it all he had. I chased an STi in my Spec V and he left me in his dust pretty badly.

ya, I never implied it was fast, just fast for what it is. I used to run a little ahead of most stock fox body's and some of the 96-97 model Mustangs in a family sedan......

i have a 99 mustang gt and one day i was cruzin down the road and a wrx comes up beside me and started reving and gunning it. so i drove normal until i was lucky enough to catch a light with him, he had exaust, i dotn no what else but off the like he pulled by about a car and then before i was out of second i was already passing him. to me there over rated, nice cars for the launch but to slow threw the gears, after that he wanted to go from a roll cuz his turbo would be spooled and i spanked him by about 2 cars before 80. deff not made for the speed after launch, my friend just got an sti so when i ge tmy lisecne back ( suspended for gettin caught at 140) me and him are gonna go for a race. hopefully i dont get killed to bad

hey redneck.... the WRX runs a 14.4 and the STi runs ~13.0.  He stated that it was the WRX.  Sotck for stock that sounds about right.  It takes a little bit for the turbo to spool up from a roll.

So I havent seen any of them pull really good numbers here yet. We have 3 or 4 WRX's on base, one has an intercooler and a bunch of other stuff. I think he was gettin mid 9's in the 1/8th.  As far as having to catch up, when you can pull a 1.61 60ft on street tires, you arent gonna be lookin at much of his car. If they have some luck they might hang for all of like one gear. If they dont have luck with them, then they look like this guy on a 750 crotch rocket that couldnt believe he just got wasted by a beat up old bird.

This may sound silly, but what exactly is an STI? Horsepower? Torque?

As far as I can tell, Ford doesn't try to compete with evo's and all those other quick 4 bangers anyways.  They are in a class of their own..
