I'm looking at lowering my car. I'm looking for a clean drop thats not gonna make my car ride like poo. What do we need to lower it? Lowering springs, shocks and struts, bushings? And how much money am i looking at to install and buy everything. Thanks =)
Couple things:
- This question has been asked many, many times. You can go backwards in the posts and see the answers. You can go to the 4.6 Handling Section and see the answers. The answers are always the same:
- Cheap way - $200 bucks for lowering springs
- Right way - springs, Tokico D-Specs or Koni Sports, Adj PHB, camber adjusters - ~$900
- Extras that you might want/need depending on your particular car and goals: UCA, LCAs, reloc brackets, strut mounts, replacement bolts, etc.
Either of the above (cheap way or right way)will significantly change the behavior of the car, even springs alone you will likely interpret as a big upgrade (most do) but the full package is even better.
hecktic33, the best way to do it is going to be springs, adj panhard, lower control arms,cab relocation brackets, and a set of tokico d specs. If you decide to just go with springs make sure that you get an adjustable panhard to correctbody alignment. Sure, you can spend over $1500 in suspension parts and labor for a road racing, handling dream car.. which would be nice, I'd admit. But my Eibach Pro-Kit gave me a nice, clean drop.. improved the handling and the ride stayed nice and smooth. I'm sure I'll replace the shocks & struts in a year or two, but it wasn't necessary to do so with just the Pro-Kit. Drives great for what I wanted and had available to spend.

I would just do springs and d-specs for now, then add other parts later but I think those are the two most important parts speaking from experience anyway
