Default Has anyone every replaced the carpet??

Last year, i did a complete overhaul on my interior, and did a very poor job on replacing the carpet...i would say because it was only molded, and there were no holes cut for anything! is there anywhere that i can purchase a pre cut carpet?! i had to cut all the holes by guessing where i needed them , and needless to say, it came out very bad. any tips/hints?? Thanks...

i think everything is pretty much just pre-molded and no holes cut. thats how the carpet for my 94 was when i replaced it a couple years ago. i had to trim the edges a little and then cut all the holes for all the bolts and everything. it wasnt hard though. i had a carpet cutter tool that looked somewhat like a drill bit on a handle and i just poked through the carpet with it, and twist it around and it made the hole. did you lay the carpet in your car and then determine where all the holes needed to be cut? or did you just eyeball it when the carpet was out of the car?

Could you use the current one as a template, assuming you've got the holes you need in the right places now?

damn man...any tips on getting it to look clean? like did you fold them in or something? I'm kinda bummed there is no pre-cut (holes, that is) available. I can live with how it is, not that bad. but i just got a little lazy and neglected to cut holes for the cigg liter. How durable was the carpet you bought/cost/where you get it from? I got 50resto.com carpet and it kinda sucks...very thin compared to oem carpet i feel

I was going to suggest to lay down the new carpet, then take out the old one and lay it on top to cut it in all the right places.

if i remember correctly, i bought mine from mustangs unlimited. it seemed up to par with the oem carpet. that tool that i had didnt leave any plaps or anything around the hole, it just made the hole and i guess shredded the rest of the stuff. i have 1 wrinkle on the little wall that goes up to the bottom of the back seat, but thats it. and if you do have any small wrinkles in it, then id go over it with a heat gun and you can mold it a little that way, just dont get too cluse or it will burn the carpet.
