I'm a new Mustang owner as of Friday. 2007 V6 Coupe 13k miles. I see that Ford says to use SAE-5W30 oil but what name brands do you all use/recommend and why?
Also what oil filter do you use / why?

I use Mobil-1 full synthetic, IDK I just feel thats the best way you can go if you really care about your Stang LOL it works really well and gives the car smoother performance (At least I think so) not sure what filter they use.
I usually use Valvoline and Wix filters. However, since Wal Mart has been carrying Ford synthetic blend oil and factory Ford filter I have been using that.
Why....They built the car, I trust them over the money making machines such as mobil
although.. there isnt a "noticeable difference in power" which is hard for me to believe in the first place... i.e. folks will say that pulleys that net 10 horsepower are a waste of money, that you can never tell...but yet will say that changing your oil with a specific brand will make a "noticeable difference". Believe me, the only thing that is in that bottle is "snake oil"
I would use mobil 1 but the dealer does my oil changes. They have this engines for life deal if you let them change the oil and it's free. I think they use a synthetic blend. I do use mobil 1 in my astro van. Just don't use a fram filter ,there not as good as other filters. As far as I know even wal-marts super tech filters are better than fram .
Mobil 1 5w30 Full Synthetic and Ford Motorcraft FL820S oil filter.
