Default Slashed Top!!

I have calmed down now. Last night worked late, walked out to the car the top now has a 6" by 10" sunroof in it. They didn't try to steal anything $20 bill still in console, door locked, sunglasses still on seat. When I filed report police officer said there was another report of a car damaged in same lot earlier.
Following pattern of history, I went with $1000 deductible on the Mustang. Question has anyone had to replace top on 2005+? Just trying to see if its better going through insurance or just paying out.
Thanks everyone

I just had the entire top assembly on my 2005 replaced, covered under warranty so I didn't pay, but they said it would've come out to $5000, but that was the ENTIRE thing, sounds to me though like your's just needs new material to fit over the frame? I'm guessing that won't cost nearly as much as mine, but as far as being cheaper to pay out I'm not really sure. Good luck with it, too bad you didn't catch the punk in the act.

not sure for the s197's but the top on my 94 was quoted to be about 700 installed, this included the top and the glass rear curtain. im guessing the newer tops are still 2 pieces, with the main piece of the top, and then the rear curtain. if that is so, then you should only have to replace the main part of the top. so i wouldnt imagine it costing you anymore than about $500. and did it go through your headliner as well? if so then thats another $150 or so. just go to an upholstery shop and get a quote and if its more than the deductible then let the insurance cover it.

+1. Agreed, I just got a quote to replace the top on my 2000. Estimates were anywere from $600 to $1200. Try finding a top guy that will do it as side work, that's how I got the $600 price. He will do the work over the weekend and make more than he would doing it through the shop. If you have to replace the inside liner it might cost more. That is one reason I am very picky about were I park. Some guys park really far out so no one dings thre cars, I park up close were it can be easily seen. Vandals tend to go after cars that are farther out because they can'tr be seen.
