just told a buddy of mine that i was seriously considering a new 2008 Mustang.  Torch Red is the likely color.  he just gave me a stupid look, laughed, shook his head, and said i would look really good driving around town in a kids car.

any truth to this?  is the Mustang a younger mans car?  i am 49 going on 21 the way i see it.

If you like the Mustang, go for it. No offense, Ive seen older people driving Verts and GT's of the 2005+ models. Its really just what you prefer. If you feel it looks kiddish too then you always have room to improve with a Mustang

Well I'm 46 & loving my current Stang (02 GT vert) & it's my 4th mustang

Maybe if you buy a bright yellow one with big black stripes that "might" be considered a kids/youths car to look at lol  kinds depends on what they guy you were talking to meant

Opinions will be opinions.  Considering the car was originally marketed to the younger market, he could have some bearing.  Im 20 and consider Vettes an old mans car, but id hop in one in a second if i was given the chance.  I also consider crown vics to be old people cars, but its turning into a young "gangstas" car slowly.  Be whatever the opinion is, drive the car not for its outward appearence, but for the car is what you find pleasing.

That is the first time I have ever heard of them being called a kids car...   I honestly dont think they are.  You see men and women of all ages driving them.  Also, I dont think a rear wheel drive, 300 HP car is exactly a kids car...

Your friend sounds like a jealous douche. Just kidding, but not really. Get the red stang and enjoy yourself. You deserve it.

No, of course not, I think it's just like any other car, everyone drives one, it just depends on what you like. I like mustangs and even eclipses even though they're foreign. I see people of all ages driving them around.

If you're going on 21, what's the problem? They can't be kids cars..I gave my son an 89 conv and he went and traded it in for a ......Toyota!

i wouldnt say a kids car, as in saying a kid is like 10 years old...but i personally always thought of mustangs as a younger crowd car, probably 20s and 30s...but then again there are plenty of 40, 50, 60+ year olds that drive stangs.  what he probably meant was that it was a younger car, as opposed to vettes or some luxury car.  the way i see it, go for what you want, the important number was "going on 21"

Mustang is a car for the young at heart, definitely not kids. If any car was meant for kids they'd let people get licenses at 10yrs old. You'll have a lot of fun with any mustang, get it.

If you like it, who cares what other people think as long as it makes you happy. There's a guy who has got to be in his 60's I see driving around town with what looks to be a brand new torch red GT.

If you get one, make sure you get a GT or better, the v6 is a kid's car.

It might be considered a younger man's car at the worst.  Kid's car though?,  your buddy seems to be talking ****e cause he's jealous I bet.
