i droped in my distributer and the car starts ok doesnt run well like timing is off but if i try to adjust it either way advanced or retard the car dies please help

like bumps??? or actual turns?? and u are using a timing gun right? U said it starts fine, so is it idling fast, or just dies when given throttle?

if i bump it either way it dies. and havent put a light on it yet, was woundering if maybe i stuck it wrong, it idles at 6-800rpm it also has a trick flow stage 1 cam
