the auburn may be a better unit and more expensive but it will get alot more expensive when it goes out and you have to buy a new one where the t-lok can be repaired. Had i known that when i bought the auburn i would have just bought a t-lok instead. Also when it comes to gears and the rear end if it is not a ford motorports part don't use it. It's worth paying a little more to not have any noise when your speeding up or slowing down which 98% of all non motorsport gears have some sort of whine. Just some Info for all you stang lovers.
Here's the review from someone who has one, listen to him instead of me on that one
Hey doc0075579, I'm not 100% sure what I paid for labor, really. The cost for my exhaust was added in with the cost of my Stang, the Ford dealer just cut me a $750 check. Come to find out, parts and labor only cost $450 at the place I went and had it done, and theres a lifetime guarentee. Hope that helps!
Hey Tres Wright, Yup, sounds like we have pretty much the same taste in cars! Except no, I didn't get the red leather. I got the interior upgrade package, except dark grey leather instead of red. Exterior sport package of course
How much did the switch to dual exhausts cost? I'm sure you're hearing quite a different sound now also. Can you tell me about that. And I guess I didn't see this in your post....did your Ford dealer do this or another shop? Is there any effect on the factory warranty with the switch?
Thanks.
The switch cost me $450. And yes, the sound is quite different, but still sounds like a Mustang, just a loud one The Ford dealership included the cost of this in the total cost of the Stang when I bought it. So they cut me a $750 check, thinking it would cost that much. No, there is no effect on the factory warranty. There would have been if Ford would have done it themselves. Plus, the place I got it done has a lifetime warranty.
in the quarter - some v6 stangs were running high 14s (look up the old 5.0 foxes, the new v6 are running a few tenths behind them). The V8s are running at best mid/high 13s.
It was cheap for me to have mine put in bec, the guy in the special services dept. suggested that I get the flowmaster turbos that they had for $270. He said they would sound better and not cost me as much as the 40's. I had them put on and the sounded like crap. Then I told them and they kept my car for a week bec I said I would not pick it up till it was right, a week later they said well we like it so we did not change anything and I got pissed off and the manager gave me the 40's at no extra charge. Thats why so cheap, and yes it is true duel not that want to be duel.
Hi! I am new to this forum. I have an 05 Mustang V6 and noticed that My05Stang had put on the GT fog lights and grill. I went to the link posted but could not get all the answers I needed. I was wanting to know what kind of modifications were needed and how hard they were to make. If anyone has done this or knows about this, Please let me know. Thank you, Jim
People that have installed this kit say it goes on quite easily. It is a real GT grille, but it has been modded to fit the V6.
Your other option is to wait for the Ford V6 Pony Package to come out in a couple of months. You'll be able to buy the parts to convert the '05 to the Pony Package grille at that point. Personally I like the PP grille a lot more than the GT grille. so I'm waiting.

5.0 try the 99-04 GT autos. According to car and driver it is .2 sec slower in the quarter and .6 second behind it 0-60 with times of 6.9 to 60 and the quarter in 15.3 @ 91 mph. If you were to put wider and shorter GT wheels on a V-6 it would be improved because the 6 has 215/65/16. Get some 235/55/17 GT wheels so the sidewall will not flex as much.
Question for those of you with the 4.10 gears in the rear end.. Do you take it on the highway?? A lot?? are the rpms excessive at cruising speeds?? How about the gas mileage?? I was trying to decide between 4.10 and 3.73 gears and was kinda leaning toward 3.73. I've heard from people with 4.10s in the rear ends of other cars that they could hardly go on the highway, but it was on older cars that probably had 4 speeds. Just wanted to hear someones experience before i decided.
I just had my 4.10's installed, I really like them. Ypou can cruise at 80-85, no problem. I have had it up to 100 as well. Gas is actually about the same!
I read somewhere on these forums that with the 4:10s you'll be at 2800 RPM at 65 mph. It's a lot like driving in 4th gear on the highway, you can try driving around in 4th to give yourself an idea of what it'll be like. People have reported that the mileage is "about the same", but I've got to think that they must do a lot of city driving (it wouldn't change much in city driving). You can bet that on the freeway there will be a noticable reduction in MPG. I've thought about doing a gear swap myself, but in the end I like the way it drives now on the freeway and don't want to screw that up!
Tres, thank you so much for the info. on the GT grille. I didn't know about the pony package coming but decided to order the kit. I am hoping it will arrive before the weekend so I can get it put on. I have a SCT Xcalibrator ordered and hope to get it soon as well. Once again, thank you. Jim

I have posted this before, but here it is again. To calculate the RPM at a given speed for various gear ratios & tire sizes:
quote:
RPM = GR X MPH / Dia / .002975 (GR is rearend gear ratio; MPH you make up; Dia is rear tire diameter in inches - let's assume 26.5" here)
For example: 3.73 X 80mph / 26.5" / .002975 = 3,785 rpm Or, 4.10 X 80mph / 26.5" / .002975 = 4,160 rpm
However, that calculation would work for 4th gear (1 to 1 ratio) but not with overdrive. With a 5-speed automatic, 5th gear is 0.75 OD and the manual has a 0.67 OD. So, multiply your OD times the rearend gear ratio to come up with the final gear ratio, as follows (for the automatic):
(3.73 X 0.75) or 2.7975 X 80mph / 26.5" / .002975 = 2,838 rpm, or (4.10 X 0.75) or 3.075 X 80mph / 26.5" / .002975 = 3,120 rpm
Hope this helps...

Got it from this website: http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html
The 1993 GT was a 5.0, and the only last gen they list is the 1999 Mustang GT with a 0-60 of 5.5 and 1/4 of 14.1, which would make since from more power and I think better gearing...although I could be wrong on that one.
I paid $500 for true duals at my local dealer which I thought was good price. I was also concerned about potential future problems due to changing the factory setup and wanted to eliminate the possiblity of the dealer being able to blame the issues on my mods. It sounds good at the redlight and great when I take off. $500 well invested in my humble opinion.
You're quite welcome! Based on what I've read, it sounds like the installation of that grille conversion goes quite smoothly. Looks cool too! Good luck on it. Post some pics when it's done if you can.
