Default light scratch (scuff) removal

What (how) should I use to remove a light scratch? It's not a swirl mark or a deep scratch, it's more of a scuff and paint does not appear to be broken. I've used Scratch Out type products in the past with disastrous results and I don't have a powered polisher of any kind. Thanks.

yeah, pictures would be great. is it paint transfer? if so you can go at it with a cleaner wax after a good clay. if that doesn't work you might have to step up to a finishing polish by hand
