Default witnessed BS myself.....LS1

Well, I must say, I saw some pretty incredible stuff last night. My bro and I were out cruising and decided to check out a "track" that we run at. We were in his LS1 and wanted to waste some gas. Anyways, we went to a 1 mile straightaway that we know locally and let a rip. Fun stuff but, my bro noticed some yellow marks on the side of the road. After closer inspection, we saw they were START, 0.1, 0.2, and Finish lines. Hell yea. He decided that he wanted a timed run so that is what we did. He line locked it and beeped it off. Guess what he ran????

12.61 according to my stopwatch. He didnt get a trap on our "track" but, I have the watch time saved still. I was astounded and would DEF. call BS if someone claimed it to me. We tried to measure the track ourselves and got 1/4 almost on the dot. We measured the 0.2 and then went to 0.3. Then we came back 0.1 and were about 30 ft off. We think that it may be off up to 30 ft and will measure it exactly ASAP. What do you all think????? As he said, It is COMPLETE BS except that we saw it ourselves.

98 LS1, built 4l60e, lid, catback, AC delete, and new plugs and wires. 245 street tires and 3.23s....

We can believe we are off by about 2 tenths but, even then, it is a 12.8-12.9; STILL BS...idk

Using a stopwatch isn't completely accurate. Maybe you started late or were a little jumpy at stopping it. It could be a number of things.

Way too many variables.

Think about how small of a time a tenth of a second is.

Then assume you were a tad late starting, and a bit early clocking it on the line since he was probably doing 100mph+.

That alone can be a half second 'improvement'..fun maybe...but not at all accurate

That's what the track is for. Laser beams are far more precise than your ass, fingers and eyes are.

Also think about the distance it takes for the initial BEEP to travel into the OP's ears, bouncing off all the wrinkles, and into the ear hole. By the time it registers to the brain, the LS1 may have already have been a mile past him LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!

What was his 60 ft time?

I was just stating a crazy event. I know that it wasnt an actual race(for S/S). I also know that it was not scientific at all. We are going to try to make some better pass next week or after we can accurately measure this. I DID say that I thought that we were off as well. But, does a 12.9ish sound at all reasonable??? I guess w/ amazing driving it is possible but, idk.

The track is about 3 and a half hours away so that wont come til later. This is all that we have as of now.

60ft was a 1.9 btw tooo

as mentioned above... the stop watch is far from accurate way to measure it. .1-.2 off would be very easy with that method
