Default Best way to clean the engine bay without dorking it up?

Hey brohams.. This probably sounds like a pretty damned dumb question, though I was wondring what the best way is to clean the engine bay, and in turn the outside of the engine without dorking it up? I've heard that lukewarm water and a VERY diluted soap solution usually works well. My question is, what do I use? Just the warm water sprayer from a car wash? Either way I figured it'd better to ask before I did anything considering I wasn't sure about it, and as you can probably see from the pic in my avatar, the old girl needs a bath on the inside. LOL At least I won't end up like the guy that used brillo pads to the clean the bug spots off of his rearviews.. [:@]

go to autozone or somewhere like that and grab a can of engine degreaser, then just follow the directions on the can. then i would try and fin d a can of CD-2 and that is a great engine dressing.

Chemical Guys Grime Reaper works ridiculously well, better than anything I've ever used. I went to a car wash bay the other day to rinse off some junk, and I sprayed the engine down then went around and sprayed down a few other things, then came back and rinsed it off. I didn't even leave it to soak for more than 2 or 3 minutes, and when it still was spotless when I rinsed it off. If you have any build up, you may need a small brush to help out, but I've never found anything that worked better. Buy a gallon of it and dilute it 8 to 1 and it will last you forever. It's great for crap like the engine and fender wells.

Then of course when you're finished, dress it with some CD2 and it'll shine like new.
