Default idol probs!

I have a 91 gt with a 302 bored .30

When the car first starts upsounds like a liffter it tapping, and the RPMs drop and the car acts like its going to die, if I dont let it warm up before I take off it will back fire out the tails. if I let the car warm up it runs like a champ, no back fire, not lifter tap,but the check engine light comes on.

any ideas?

Get good tires, or a set of decent DR's, and don't drive stupid. Also suspension mods. Don't expect to be able to do 4,000rpm clutch dumps on the street and find traction.

Try posting in the 5.0 section, a lot of those guys have Fox's and can give you better advice on what to get.

was it raining? lol what rear end u running? so u have a punched 302, what else? HCI? How about suspension work?

Far as idle issues, check your timing again, could be hearing spark knock. Check your mass air meter, it will give a back fire if not cleaned or not calibrated with new injectors. Try unpluging the MAF and see if it runs better and dosent miss, this will turn the SES on but will go off when u pluged it back in. Pull a code for sure before doing that. Need more input on whats been done to car.
