So, replaced the crank and got it all back together, only now with the RPM Air Gap instead of the Weiand 8124. Seems a bit softer on the bottom end, under like 2,000-2,500, I actually had to idle it up a fair bit. That's no biggy though, I had more bottom end than I needed, the bottem end is still strong though. Mid range seems to have improved a bit perhaps, and it definately runs better up top, over 5,700ish rpm. The Weiand is still a good intake though, but I think it was just too small for my setup. For something milder, or with stock heads for sure it's a great intake. I'd definately use it in a mild performance/milage or towing application.

It took it bit of doing to find it, that sucker was burried. It makes me wonder how some people can ressurect old threads.....when a thread is on page 97 that should be a clue.

Yeah, the Action plus (8124) is a better match to the old Edelbrock Performer (before the Performer RPM). The Wieand Stealth (8020), would have been a much better match for your setup, than an Action Plus.
I originally got the new Action Plus before the old engine crapped out, so it was fine for that setup, but I figured it was new and improved so I'd try it on this 302, and it actually did quite well. It would still pull to 6,000 without a problem and even go to 6,500 though you could feel the power flattening out(it never seemed to hit a wall though). I had the Air Gap laying around, but thought it almost might have been too big for this setup since I was going for a mild driver and concerned about mileage. Since I had it out to replace the crank and it needed an intake gasket I figured I'd try the Air Gap and see how it does. The 8124 moves a lot of air at low rpm though, with a lean tune the engine would ping at part throttle leaving a stop light.
