do newer v6's stand a chance against older v8's? like an 02 or 03 manual v6 vs a manual eighty something 5.0? just curious. obviously after mods are concerned, an 8 will get much more use out of any than a 6 would... but im saying stock for stock. i have an 01 manual v6, and im pushing alittle less than 200hp, maybe like 190.

is the v6 in a stang even a high performance engine as 6es go? not compared to like a 5.0, but like a maxima or an accord or something along those lines

not even close to high performance for a sixer i dont think. and its not even an I6...those at least have torque workin for em not to mention theyre balanced as hell. stangs should have the 300 I6 as the base engine.

if your gonna go for a v6 go for the firebird, they have the same 3.8L that you see running around in grand nationals, like that one that pulled 1050hp, they engine on the fbird can handle more stock than a stang

No way man, I have an 01 Gt, my friend has a 00 Gt, and his brother has 02-03 V6.. We take off- he catches us (both GT's) after we've already stopped at the next light, chat about the race we just had, and even laugh about our screw ups, there he comes.... Lol.. They're slow as HELL.....

1. firebirds and all f-bodies are practically put together with elmer's glue.
2. doesnt really matter because you're probably talking about the stock block.
neither engine is much to brag about for cheapness of mods or performance, its about whose looks you prefer. and fyi it's really most likely not the exact same engine from a grand national and not to mention the 3.8 is in about every damn gm car in existence anyway.

V6's do actually have a chance with older 5.0's. I have a V6 with a CAI and flows, and I raced a 1989 5.0 We were neck in neck the hole time. He beat me by less than 3 ft, thats because the new mustangs are so much heavier. However you cannot beat a 1996 5.0 or newer. the v6's do have alot of torqu for a 6 but are not a big six. Maro's and firebirds are practically the same if, but you would get better lookin car if you got a mustang

My cousin has a 95 s10 w/a 4.3l v6, and he beat a 5.0, not sure of the year, but it was an 80s something, the guy just couldn't keep up, and my cousins truck is stock, w/ an auto, and 133k miles on it. I've also seen a supercharged civic running on about 8 psi take 5.0sGrant85ss37975.0032175926

The old v8s are pure muscle and they dont have the computers too worry about really not like todays chips Which is really makes it easier to work on but the newer v6s have those air controls and all those restraints you will have to do some moding to get it to fight but they will fight.
