I have a 2005 v6 mustang with a shaker 500 system. I want to upgrade the head unit to the unit I link to or a unit similar to it, really something that has a motorized touch screen. is the one I have linked to a good system and how much should the installation cost, I don't want to get ripped off because I'm a noob.
ah do it yourself it probably comes with good instructions and its not hard to get behind the head unit. four 7 or 8mm bolts, some wire cutters and electrical tape
OKAY, I guess I'll try installing it myself. but how about the unit itself, is it any good or should I find another?
also while I have this thread up I was wondering, the shaker 500 has a 6-cd changer, would I be able to use that with the new head unit or is the cd changer part of the shaker 500 head unit?
That thing is garbage, do not waste your money on it. There is a reason they only cost a couple hundred bucks and sell them at Wally World. Do yourself a favor and save your money and buy a good brand such as Pioneer, Eclipse, Alpine...
ok, how do you guys feel about the type of head unit. the kind that looks like a normal stereo but then you press a button and a big touch screen slides out. are they any good or are they all bad?

Like I said in my first post, if you want one, look at the good brands like the ones I mentioned. Why do you want one like that anyway? Since you have an 05 model, you could easily put a double din in there for less money, plus not have to use a filler plate around it. Two huge pluses right there in that you save money and it looks much better. The pretty common one that is being used is the Pioneer Avic D3, but if your not wanting Nav, they make a model without it as well for less money.
I got an eclipse love it and used a tray as a filer gives me a place to put my usb sticks since my unit can play them. Very easy install. but dont use electrical tape use connectors that u can pull apart in case you add other stuff like ipod controller.
Not sure if you can hook the cd changer up to a aftermarket deck or not??? Check out ebay and onlinecarstereo.com like I said id stay with Alpine, Eclipse, or Pioneer for your head unit
NEVER use tape as a connector, it is an insulator, not a connector. Tape should only be used on mechanically sound connections meaning that they cannot be pulled apart(such as soldering) to insulate them from shorting out.

although im not an "expert" i do know that, that headunit would be 10x better and more reliable than the first one you posted, if you are willing to drop $1,000 on that particular one my guess would be to go ahead, but im sure theres something out there that surpasses that one.
