I had the dealer install my hurst shifter a couple of weeks ago. The shifting was very stiff the first couple of days and very notchy. Nothing like the smooth fast shifting of the hurst lin the shelby GT.
Well I thought it was a break in thing so I gave it a couple weeks.
Now the shifter rattles sometimes under mod acceleration. And the worst thing is under 1/2 to 3/4 throttle in 3rd the shifter will not go into 4th, it takes another second while the motor spins down and I jam it into 4th. Under light acceleration it slides into 4th fine if not a little notchy still. Overall the shifts have loosened up a bit but it is still notchy. Also I noticed when the shifter is in 1st, 2nd, and 5th the shifter handle has very little side to side play, but it 3rd and 4th gear it can move side to side about an inch.
So is there anything that can be done? Is there some bushings that weren't transferred to the hurst shifter? Is something loose underneath causing the rattle? Does anyone have or know of specific install instructions with pics so I can fix this? I don't want to go back to the dealer since if it was installed incorrectly why go back.
This is one of those installs that I recommend, everyone with a driveway, doing themselves. I'm sure there are some online instructions somewhere, but it's not that complicated and i'm sure you will know if something is not right with the install. My hurst has always been notchy, I don't see why the shelby would be any different.

Loosen the shift arm up and go back with lock tight but dont tighten too much. And the rattling is probaly like on my shifter its the damn shift ball put a t-handle or pistol grip on it.
