Trusty 5.0 section, I need your help!

So I washed my car the other day, started it up pulled out of the bay everything was fine. Pulled up to the vacuums and decided to plug my phone in cause I had just found my car charger. I plugged it into the cigarette lighter that is down by the ashtray/foglight switch area...I never use this plug cause I dropped a penny in it a while back and it sparked and went crazy so I thought I'd leave it alone. Well I plugged the phone in and everything was going fine until I tried to start it. I turned the key to the "ON" position and the volts went up just like normal, radio turned on, etc...turned the key to start it and the volts completely dropped off, a couple lights went crazy and it wouldn't turn over or anything...completely dead. I can still turn the key to the "ON" position and things are OK (stereo turns on, volts go up, can turn the lights on, etc.) but as soon as I try to start the car it starts going nuts and doing what it did at first.

My car was A-OK until I plugged in that damn phone charger...I hate that thing...even if it isn't what caused it in the end.[:@]:(

Hmmmmm...after digging through a bunch of old threads it looks like it could possibly be somethin with the starter.

It'll click once then everything goes to crap....

Got a super sleuth on the case here.[8D]

Yeah, the battery is fine.

I'm waiting for my roommate to get home so he can help...I'm pretty damn clueless when it comes to electric issues.[>:][&o]

Thanks, btw.

could your starter just have seized?

Just got her running. It ended up being the starter solenoid.[sm=smiley16.gif]
