well this is what i know brother. some companies make their catbacks fittable for other exhaust parts of different copmanies. for example, Bassani makes their headers to fit only basasni catback systems, while Mac makes their exhaust to fit with with other aftermarket exhausts, like SLp Exhaust. I'm going with Mac longtube headers and off road prochamber with SLP Loudmouths. See two different companies that u can combine together with your exhaust parts. my best advise is to go to youtube and listen to all the exhaust clips they have so you can get an idea on how they sound. just type what ever exhaust brand you're interested in and the year range of your mustang. hope i could help.

Why even buy a catback? The only reason to buy a catback is if you wanted the mid mufflers because, well, it places the mufflers near the middle. Any other cat back is going to sound and perform like an axleback, so save some money and the PITA install. You have used up your allotted number of exhaust posts.

I agree with Moose, save your money and the PITA install. Axle backs work just fine.quote:

I love my FRPP stinger! They sound great and flow just fine for my 600+HP! And since its an axle back, I can use most any header or h-pipe or x-pipe with it that I want. Plus install was cake!

You should be able to buy the catback and still change axle back later on down the road, unless you are going with the 3.0" exhaust. IMO, unless you are going with the 3.0" you are better off just buying an axleback set up now vs. later.

Ok, if you are normally aspirated, and I assume you are. You will probably see little or no gain from a fancy exhaust system. The fact is, The factory exhaust is very, very efficient up to about 450 HP.. So, if you are looking for performance. Look elsewhere. Dollar for dollar there are many other upgrades that will produce more power for alot less money than changing your entire exhaust system. If your looking for better sound, then just change the mufflers, there is no need to re-invent the wheel here. 3" exhaust systems are pricey, that is a fact. They will not give a great HP return for your money.
