Hey guys, its been a while since i'll been on here, or even had a mustang. Well I finally found one that I'm interested in, and now I'm thinking about buying it but I have some questions!
Its an 85 GT. 5.0 5 speed car.
All I remember about mustangs was that the 90's had forged pistons. and 87+ i believe were maf cars. soooo
whats the engine in the 85's consist of? What carb was on them? How much of the engine was wired to an ecm? Are the interiors much different than the later model fox bodies? I've forgotten all the mustang parts sites, so wheres are some places to get interior pieces and body pieces for the 4 eyes? Also, the 4 eyes have a 7.5 instead of an 8.8 right? Thanks for the help, and its good to be back :D

89 was first year of maf 88 for cali cars, and 86-88 speed density.....50resto.com will get you all resto parts and 85to 92 had forged pistons......600 cfm carb on 85 interiors are different = dash and seats and 85 had a 7.5 trac-loc.....carb was not ecm wired nor emissions..all worked off of vaccum switches and ignition was duraspark:D

excellent. you're awesome.
what are different about the seats? i remember the dash being different. Will late model 99-04 seats work in the 85s? how difficult is it to swap an 8.8 into a 7.5 car?

All mustang seats from 79-04 are interchangable, I was originally going to replace mine with a set of 99+ GT seats, but I saw these ones in someone's car on here and decided on them. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=SCA%2D80%2D1606%2D61L&view=32& N=700+400063+4294804476

wow your back took long enough haha. i still have your quote in my sig;)
85 is a good year. last year for the carb and first year for the roller cam. i love the seats they are recaro "racing bucket seats" adjustable leg bolsters. they have leg rest pull outs for highway trips which i use very often in mine. slide the seat all the way back pull the leg supports out and im good to go. the dash is also much cooler than the 87-93 dash and your center console is a little different too. you got a little display at the front of it that tells your when your lights bulbs are out front rear brake washer fluid is low and a gas light. you have picked a very good car. welcome to the 4 eye world we can see much better:D

mustangsunlimited.com or cjpontparts.com should have them
as for my car domain i dont know if i got it up to date since my car is primer now. she is also kinda falling apart on me. i only have 4 more months to go and i am out of school and i can let her rest while i build a new engine for her and get the body work done.
