your clutch adjustment sounds out. Do you have a stock quadrant/cable in the car still? it may be streached!

ORIGINAL: 65coupe88hatch so the tranny isnt that old, before we were even driving it the damn thing started leaking, i somewhat got that taken care of......now its to the point where i can barely put it into gear it fights and fights to go into gear......hardly wont go into reverse ever im at a loss at what i can do i have no money to fix it and dont have another car to drive... sell the f'er and buy a tremec. T-5's are garbage. it took me 3 third gears to before coming that conclusion by the way. T-5's and only rated at 275ft lbs of tq. and i believe thats to the crank. if you're making any kind of respectable power, you'll be replacing it soon anyway

For the OP, it sounds like it could be a clutch problem. I just installed my clutch cable and it didn't adjust good when it first got in there. You probly need to adjust it yourself, also take not that the clutch itself could be messed up too. Here... http://foxbodyforum.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=a68acd17f7dfa0907a74604be8d25a80&topic=1643.msg22304#msg22304 Do that. Also, while i'm not the biggest fan of my t-5, there's a guy who runs an 83 non-wc t-5 behind a 450hp motor. And he races it frequently, don't ask me how, but he does! lol Good luck to ya!

yeah, the tq rating does vary but not enough to make a huge difference. 450hp with a T-5 behind it is impressive if he hasn't had it built. heavy duty t-5 gear sets cost almost as much a tko sadly.

I know it. I was in shock. He must drive it carefully as piss. lol Like I said though, he runs it regularly, so, who knows. lol

i believe though cause the guy i bought my T-5 from i know for a fact was running high 11's. from what i've been told, there are some invincible T-5's out there. i've also been told that if you do manage to break it, it'll never be as strong after a rebuild. sadly i found that to be true after my first rebuild.
