your clutch adjustment sounds out.  Do you have a stock quadrant/cable in the car still? it may be streached!

sell the f'er and buy a tremec. T-5's are garbage. it took me 3 third gears to before coming that conclusion by the way. T-5's and only rated at 275ft lbs of tq. and i believe thats to the crank. if you're making any kind of respectable power, you'll be replacing it soon anyway

They ranged, different years of t-5's got small changes and slightly higher ratings. For the OP, it sounds like it could be a clutch problem. I just installed my clutch cable and it didn't adjust good when it first got in there. You probly need to adjust it yourself, also take not that the clutch itself could be messed up too. Here...

Do that. Also, while i'm not the biggest fan of my t-5, there's a guy who runs an 83 non-wc t-5 behind a 450hp motor. And he races it frequently, don't ask me how, but he does! lol Good luck to ya!

yeah, the tq rating does vary but not enough to make a huge difference.

450hp with a T-5 behind it is impressive if he hasn't had it built. heavy duty t-5 gear sets cost almost as much a tko sadly.

I know it. I was in shock. He must drive it carefully as piss. lol Like I said though, he runs it regularly, so, who knows. lol

i believe though cause the guy i bought my T-5 from i know for a fact was running high 11's.

from what i've been told, there are some invincible T-5's out there. i've also been told that if you do manage to break it, it'll never be as strong after a rebuild. sadly i found that to be true after my first rebuild.

that doesnt some like a trans problem it sounds like 1. your clutch is very far out of adjustment or 2. you really need a new clutch bad

Well, no sh!t. haha  jk  They all are. However there are methods to work with the self adjusting bullspit these cars have. It tells you how in that link I left ya. If that doesn't work, lemme know and i'll tell ya how I got mine to work.

Everyone here can agree. A Tremec is a stronger transmission than a T5 but if 65coupe can't get his trans in gear it's not the fault of a T5.

65coupe. Can you easily engage gears with the engine off and how far off the carpet is your pedal when the clutch starts to engage. Most likely you have a clutch problem.
