Default Idle air controller / maf

i talked to a ford tech at my job yesterday and he told me that my surging idle is really never gonna stop. he said that years ago they made a gasket like thing for behind the iac to manually adjust the air, he also said to convert it to mass air flow...but moneys quite an issue. has anyoner heard of that?

Yes I know about the IAC bypass, but the Tech is wrong.... I have the worst person you could have as a customer..... my Dad. He has a '87 TownCar, and the times the car had idle surge issues, it was a matter of identifying its cause and solving it. No problems for the past 5 yrs. Same with all the Mustangs, CV's and Grand Marquis speed density systems I've worked on.... ('86 - '88).

idle surge sucks...it can be a number of things...like bad or dirty iac..bad or dirty maf sensor....low coolant causes surge...the 10 pin connectors come apart or get dirty also, throttle body needs to be cleaned..or big culprit is a vacum leak....i have none and cleaned all sensors reset base idle and car surges a little..part of it has to do with running a 94-95 cobra maf sensor for my 24# injectors
