well like i've said before got a 05 GT 5 speed im wanting to put 285/35/20's in the rear and 255/35/20's in the front. My ? is, is that to big of a rim for my car???? I mean it looks good bcause the car is being lowered as well 1.5 in front and 1.3 in rear. or should i go with something a little smaller. Whats the pros and cons of my rims lol.

P.S. thanks everyone that helped me with the whole Gears thing im going to be putting 4:10s in it some time next month. Thanks to "Macon Moore Performance" running me about $550 to buy them and install them. Thanks again.

The bigger the rims, the worse the car performs. Rotational mass eats hp.

I had a set of 18 x 9's with 255's and 285's. The car cornered really well, but at the sametime, the extra weight felt like a was dragging a boat anchor.

On stock rims the 285 will not work at all....you need atleast a 9 inch wode rim for that i think safely. You have 8 in rims right now so the 255 will work.....get new rims if you want to run that setup

Get the 20's if you are really into slow cars and wanna INCREASE your 1/4 mile time.
I wouldn't put anything bigger than 18 on my car, but if you really wanna run 35 profile tires then get the 19s. And btw, you probably already know about the ride quality issues with 20's especially if you're lowered

Im running 19's and i cant complain. People will always talk about about how much heavier the rims are, but there are lots of companies that will have lighter weight rims out there. The stock ones arent that light either. But the tires are what are going to getcha. The bigger the tire, the heavier its going to be.

I'm running 295/40r19 in the back and 245/45r19 in the front.

Worked well for me, I did the 4.10 gears at the same time haha, so i never had to experience the "drag" of the heavy wheels.

My car with 20's is slow? And the ride is bad?
Doesn't feel any different then with the stockers........and the Whipple takes care of the, 8-10 rwhp I lose.

i have 295/20s in the back and 255s up front...the ride is great, cause i got 40 profile, and it looks amazing..i get compliments all the time....if your worried about the hp loss, then i guess go 18's but u will liek it alot better with the 20's...a much nicer look....the 8-10rwhp gain isnt anything serious to make a stink of
