I think I wnat to go carbeurated over EFI but dont know yet.  93 hatch project.  Rebuild and machine or build from scratch.  Im trying to learn here so please help with any combos.  Im still learning how to match intake, heads, and cam.  Minor street use intended(show shine and cruise nights)  emissions not required at this point.  Maybe te ocassional pass at the track when i fold under peer pressure.  I want to do this right from the beginning.  I know I will want more power later IE nos.  Girddle on hte rebuild or a new block that I cant afford?  Lead me the right way...Sorry for being so blah.  When more detail is needed ask and I will answer.  This is just a big toy that will be a long project...

What are you starting with? Do you already have a motor in the 93 Mustang or is it just a shell?

if you're not gonna track it---EFI and occassional street use.

Little street use (fri nights, Sunday cruises...etc) and some track action-- Carb it.

N20 is a easy short throw killer power adder. More compression makes easier better tq numbers.
Low compression, better on gas, less aggressive, good for turbo/blower setups.

A good aluminum head (AFR, Dart, Trick flow, Edelbrock, World) are good companies... Brodix is decent, and canfields--- from what i've heard suck.
Aluminum heads are good for power, as well as cast- although aluminum has a few more benefits such as weight, heat...etc.

As for the intake a good EFI style intake Trick Flow track/street heat, Edelbrock performer RPM, GT40, Performance products intakes as well are good. With intake system, just like your heads, do port work--- more air + more fuel = more power

As for cams--- Comp has nice cams (stay away from the Xenergy just need a typical street strip cam).Crane is also a good supplier/performer as well. A custom cam is the way to go though- it is matched to your motors specs. As for cam specs- until you know what comp. ratios, p/a's and all the rest of the set up is gonna be its hard to suggest a cam from this point...

GL with the build.

(n20, 3.73''s, World heads, Custom cam, Ported u/l''r Power Products intake, BBK stuff, ARP parts, QA1 susp., Moser axles, MSD diggy 6, E-fan, EFI, Built PA C4)... there''s more- trust me

I've always heard canfields were one of the best heads you could buy?

2 of my buddies had them-- one on a 331strkr other was a 306 w/ an a$$load of spray (both were 6.0 heads up cars).... Both had canfields... One swapped to AFR's, the other went with Darts... now they both have their 5.70 licenses, and the cars are capable of 5.6's.... The heads are where the power is made... gotta breath- deliver the air, and have some good port work....

A stock block with a 3.40" stroke, 400-450 BHP, and under 6,800-7,000 RPM will be fine.

A girdle will not hurt, but it may not help much either.

Go with a 347 by a reputable builder.  My suggestions through personal experience are:

- Keith @ www.keithcraft.com
- Rick @ www.rnhperformance.com
- Brian @ www.adsperformance.com

Go with a custom camshaft, AFR 185cc (or larger), Holley Systemax Intake, 1.750" Longtube Headers.

I have had good experience with Ed @ www.flowtechinduction.com.  He sold me my AFR cylinder heads as well, with springs to match.

It is only exceptional above all, if one has tried all.

They all provide good service.

400 or so and at least 350+ for torque as it will mainly be a street car.  Plan to stay with original roller block.  how much to machine???  Will it support a 100 or  150 shot n2o?  That is as wild as it would get...

$1000 is always a good value to expect with machine work, assembly pricing, and balancing the rotating assembly.

Some can be more, and some can be less.

There's nothing wrong with running a carburetor on the streets you know. Soem of us drive carb'd cars every day with decent mileage and excellent reliability. And they cost way less than an EFI setup(if you have to replace most of it).
