I am looking to buy a black 07' Mustang GT but I saw some pictures of the new Camaro and I thought it looke really cool, so I was wandering if I should buy the Mustang now or save my money and wait for the Camaro to come out? (I know some of the answers are going to be pretty one-sided since this are the mustang forums but I want to know your opinions, what would you do?)
Well because the Camaro is coming out in 2009 and has been under development for awhile, this Camaro will be a superior car in general to the current S197 GT developed back in 2004 and before. Obviously I am a Mustang guy, but I've been following the new Camaro for awhile and it is coming back with guns blazing.
Somethings to consider:
1) The Mustang will still probably be cheaper than the V8 Camaro 2) You could save up a little longer for the 2010 Mustang, which should be much better competition for the 2009 Camaro 3) The 2009 Camaros will probably be faced with some huge initial markups in the first model year so you might have to wait for the 2010 model year for a reasonable price anyway.

the new camaro will be no where near the price of an 07 mustang gt....i wouldnt be surprised if the 09 camaro is competition for the gt500 in price and performance
I don't think the question can be easily answered right now...unless you are anxious and itching to get the Mustang now.
First, you have to see the 09 Camaro at the showroom and on the road to really know how you like the looks. Pricing, options, and color choices could also influence your decision.
I love the 07 GT (particularly with a hood scoop), but I wouldn't buy one now with the new Camaro approaching and the reskinned 2010 Mustang right around the corner. I am playing the waiting game, but I don't have a problem with that because I really like the cars I currently have.
What you are talking about is "instant gratification" vs "patience". The "life is short or instant gratification" theory says buy the 07 now, because you could enjoy it for now and if you start having second thoughts, you could always get a Camaro or newer Mustang in a few years. Plus, you may like your mustang so much that the new models won't really tempt you enough anyway. I've enjoyed my Z-28 for 12 years and though I have definitely been tempted by a Mustang over that time, I still have the Z-28....with no regrets.
The "patience" route says to wait and see what is over the horizon before you buy. You may not want to jump the gun a year early and then the minute you see a new Camaro drive by....realize that you made a bit of a mistake.
I am waiting to see what the new Camaro looks like when it hits the dealer lots and starts getting reviewed in the car magazines. I also am very interested in the 2010 Mustang that is rumored to have a factory glass roof option. Patience can be a strain, but it can also pay off.
The bottom line is that you could go either way and still be more than happy with your decision. Good luck.
honestly i wouldt buy either one if i was you....not with the challenger on the horizon....buy a challenger so i can come find you and we'll tape a race for youtube and streetfire

challenger is a major fail
heavy as hell auto only 1 wheel peel 400hp and runs with a 300hp gt
no
im not liking any of this retro ****...wth were auto manufacturers thinking....thats why i like new edges best of all the stangs (aside from classics up to 70)...they look like a progression from the old ones, not a ****ty half assed oversized remake...

half-assed? maybe, thats an opinion
oversized? the only dimension thats noticably bigger is the height, and thats by an inch or 2
now if you bring up weight, stock for stock the s197 is about 50lbs heavier than a new edge

You know I''ve always had a boner for your car, Joo.
joo i wasnt comparing s197 to new edge...and even if i was, dimension aside the car is proportioned in a way i dislike...it looks like a brick...its all in opinion though
and yes nght...its a 1 wheel peel...ill try to find the challenger bashing thread if i do ill bump it for you
i said i wasnt into the retro look...comparing them to the stangs they are modeled after...and not just stangs...challenger and camaro as well...all 3 i really hope this retro deal doesnt stick around for long...ill be in the car market in a few years and i would like a newer stang, but i dont like the retro thing so hopefully it goes away by the time im ready to get a new car...if not ill just buy a new motor and trans for mine and call it a day
The Challenger can enjoy the moment (an overpriced, dealer mark-up moment), but I just have a hunch that the new Camaro is going to really be a hit. Might even be enough of a hit to make me go down to the local Chevy dealer (not a fan) and do some serious thinking. Every time that old Camaro transforms into that new yellow Camaro in "Transformers", I get that urge to buy. Haven't had a yellow car since my 78 Firebird Formula, but an 09 yellow Z-28 could tempt me. Just remains to be seen if it can make me part with my 96 Z-28.
And I do think that Ford is going to come well equiped to the "Pony Wars" with its 2010 model. Should be a good time to go car hunting.

I like the size of the new edge mustangs better than the s197. They are shorter in length and definitely "look' smaller. Most cars today are boxier (safety standards are influencing them a lot) and appear bigger. My Z-28 is longer in length than an s197, but I think it looks smaller when parked next to one.
The Z-28 always feels large to me, but my Mustang doesn't feel any larger than my Eclipse (even though it is).
