Hi Matt,
welcome to the forums. I'm german living in Ireland. I imported from the states (eBay). I know it sounds mad.
I guess I was just lucky that the seller was honest about the car. whatever I asked was answered correctly.
A few hidden problems but all in all I still believe I saved a few quid.
Don't forget aboput the option to buy in Europe.
The Dutch and the Belgians are mad for those, so you'll find a lot driving/.selling over there.
Check autoscout24.co.uk and search europeanwide.
Seeing the car before buying it is priceless. Something I never had but would do in te future if I ever had to again.
Flying over to netherlands and such is just much easier.
See as well:

If you import from the states maybe you can get in contact with a local mustang club and ask them if they could inspect it for you.
OR maybe someone here in the forums might be able to help you with that if local.
In any case, if you find something over, then post pictures and price etc on the forums.
I should have done that. It was unknown to me that the 6cyl and 8cyl models had different axle and spindles and steering etc. things I had to learn the hard way after I bought
