what kind of saleen...the only chance a Saleen would run against the cobra would be if it was modded or an E-car...just a stock SC wouldn't hang...I'd say the GT-500 would win

A Saleen SC might win in a road race but not on a strip against a GT500.

Cobra, if you mean the 03/04's, then a Saleen SC can take them

guess that depends on the track situation. if its a point and shoot match the gt500 would likely win as its proven in several trails. but on a road track its a whole different ballgame. and id think for a fair comparison roush would need to be a trakpack, or p51 as the hp would be closer to that of a saleen e, or a 500.. maybe just ends up a drivers race under those circumstances

lol. well said, jaz.

None of those cars would win. They would all have dead batteries from not shutting off the radio the night before.

I would agree that the Saleen E would own this race. Then the 500, then the Saleen SC. All of them being stock of course.  I just think the GT500 would be much easier to make crush the other vehicles.  It is sad that it is nowhere near as pretty!

What kind of race? What years cars? Which variation of the Saleen? Which variation of the Roush S3?
I think this is a dumb question. Too much left open.

^+1. E car would win if all cars were stock. Once mods are put into the picture its the car with the most money "properly" invested in the car will win.

Still not saying what year or anything. Put the Extreme up against the Track Pak on a road course and all it will see it Roush rear skirt. Basic Stage 3 up against the Extreme, and the E wins.... but the Stage 3 is more along the lines of the SC car equipment wise, and we know who wins that one on the twistys.
Nobody that I know of has run a P51 against an Extreme yet. Those two would be more along the same power wise.
Quarter mile is a whole different ball game. But even then it varies year to year which is better between the Saleen and the Roush camps.

Trak-pak...I dunno. I think that an extra 120hp which the extreme lays down will take care of any minor shortcomings found in the handling. Especially if the track is more open with sweeper style turns. Hell if the track is tight enough, a mini would beat a roush's ass. The P51 looks like it can do the damn thing though.

Once the mods start (proper mods was the idea), I have put a great deal of thought into this, every car is at a GREAT disadvantage to the GT500 due to the power plant. It seems to be a no brainer now to me. I know there are a couple of these cars which have forged internals but they cannot handle the numbers a 500 can get out plus once you get the pontoon boat suspension off the car and replace it with k members and the good watts link out back, you save about 250lb!!! Makes it a different car. I can't afford to do this though so thats taking someone at their word but it seems possible.

Track Pak is a serious machine with a lot of fine tuning that can be done by th driver.
However, the P51 is a power monster that will more than likely do it's best on a dyno. From what I've seen of them in action, they lack the suspension needed to manuver that type of power around. More like the older Mustangs of days gone by - all brute force and no way to turn.

I still think the the GT500 is over rated for what it really is. I've out handled them in my V6. Sure they look cool and all. But they aren't the top mustang like they are claiming.

I would love to see some real world head to heads with all versions from aftermarket Mustang companies.
SCs, E cars, Stage 2, 3, Track Paks, Drag Paks, P51s, GT500s, 500KRs, even toss in Steeda to the mix since they are doing something similar these days. Put them all out there for lots of types of racing and see who does best in each. But in all reality, it will never happen. So the best we get is when two or three end up at the same track on the same day and see what happens.

on an even more interesting note lets compare pricing, a saleen e, a gt500kr and a roush p51, all roughly same power platforms, put em on a track and go, I think for a p51 with what its got its a reaaaally good price. and maybe get tossed aside in a drag race but you have to turn eventually and well. id thinkj the saleen e and p51 would be a great race, Ive seen the vids of the 500 loosing it on the first turn. shrugs I will take 1 of each thank you
