Mine came right out and came out so much so that it turned the retainer deal on the front of the dash causing the entire ignition housing in the back to drop to the floor.  No ideas....but wanted to bump the post for you in case anyone else had any ideas.

I don't know if it matters. But have you tried it while it was in the other Acc or even off?

Perhaps the switch mounting Bezel is keeping it in there. Have you removed/loosened that yet?

Unfortunatly you can't remove the bezel without removing the lock cylinder.

I did have a bezel problem with a reproduction bezel. The slots in the bezel were a little  less deep than the original and the lock cylinder got hung up on the bezel. The prob might have been casting flash or it was just wrong.
Anyway I had to grab the key with pliers a yank, which wrecked the lock cylinder. Now I file repro bezels to prevent the problem.

I hope this isn't your problem.

got the   )(*^$$##  thing out, looks like it was BS corosion,, no good reason for not coming out, simply pot ash metal hanging up on pot ash metal,,, wound up taking a screw driver and a hammer to the cylinder and convincing it to come out,,,, looked at switch itself and the cylinder and there was lite brown crud in it,, ( rust? ) cylinder turned right.. left ok ,, no issues ,,as I said the issue was the switch,, luckily the local stang shop had a cylinder and a new bezel ( kinda nailed that sucker good but no choice) I can't believe it took this much,, this is the second one I've had to replace,, Local Mustang shop say's it's a combo of aftermarket stuff and luck of the draw,, now the new question ,,,How to set the cylinder pins for the new ignition switch to match my dooor locks ?

AS usaul  any ideas, suggestions, web sites  is always helpful and appreciated
