ORIGINAL: elburrito99 ".....Two weeks ago I pull up to the valet of a ludicriously expensive hotel in Beverly Hills to pick up a friend friend/client. As I'm waiting, the valet comes over and starts raving about the car, asking questions, etc. He literally stands next to me for about 5 minutes just grilling me about the Saleen. I finally mention that he must see dozens of $200k+ cars a DAY in his job. His response was absolutely priceless: "Yeah, but after a while, the Bentley GTs all look the same. I've never seen one of these, and this thing is just beautiful."
Tell me about it!
Everytime I go ANYWHERE, people are always asking about your car
I have made up my mind. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY CAR...and if I traded it off on a GT-500...a few weeks down the road I'd be sitting in traffic...enjoying my new 5.4....getting worse MPG than my Saleen...and in my review mirror...I would see some friggin' tool bag fly by in my baby...unwashed...and smoked in. I couldn't take seeing the car around town, knowing that it is the ONLY REAL Saleen in town...I see a GT-500 about once a week...I am almost positive I have the only real Saleen. So I have made up my mind. I'm keeping my baby. Said for the second time.

I'd switch that to an R1 real quick though. Maybe a 1098 which will be moving on up toward a 1198 due to recent FIM Superbike rule changes allwing greater displacement for twins but thats another thread for other internet experts.

Well, for whatever its worth- the same place that sold me my Saleen at a huge discount has 6 or 8 GT-500's on ebay each for 50K.

Actually, I don't agree about the 20's looking better on the Shelby. The KR is a beautiful car with that King Cobra hood, and all the markings, but the right 18's make those cars look sporty mean, 20's on the KR make it look like you'd put a chandelier in the interior if you could sometimes. I like the 20's on the Saleens, because the body profile is right for it, but the Shelby to me looks les forced with the 18's. The Roush also looks better IMO with the 18's.
Again, the Mustang GT with all the suspension change outs beyond just the Saleen package, with the Saleen SC and JDM 12lb kit, or 10lb with LTH's and Catted X will get you 550 flywheel HP and come in about 325lbs lighter than the Shelby GT500. So the Shelby would have to have an equivelent of 595hp to match the Mustang GT. Plus a fully changed out suspension with all the Steeda goodies on top of the Saleen or Roush full suspension is more nimble at 3620lbs than any of the comparisons made in this thread. Erik

If you want a COMFORTABLE ride, but a bike that still looks like a crotch rocket....then you should look into the Honda VFR 800's. I use to ride a VFR 750 and it was the most comfortable thing I've ever ridden. If you are buying a bike for gas mileage, then I would guess comfort might come to mind as well....don't look past the Sport Tourning bikes
well I am going to look at a gt 500 tomarrow, its used i think its got 9k on it, but heres the catch, my dealer is duuumb when it comes to these cars, he called me and told me they have a nice used gt and its been upgraded to have 500hp. I asked him if it had a gt500 badge on it and he thought so and then asked him if it had a kr on it and he said he wasnt sure but hed likely let me have it as a used gt price if thats the case im buytin the damn thing in cash... I basically talked im down on the car told him that it wasnt worth much blah blah so hopefully the psychological warfare falls in my favor...would i trade the roush in for it... not a chance, I think honestly the only things I would trade up for would be a black jack or a p51
I would ABSOLUTELY take a Ford GT before the KR...an probably before any other car on my wish list.
Ditto!! IMO the Ford GT--especially with a few key aftermarket tweaks--is a true supercar with the beauty, poise and power to compete with any car in the world. Period.
I always loved them, but after spending a few hours watching them being hand built at Troy a couple years ago, I was ready to sell my house to get one--and sometimes wish I had. ;-)
cbgammel05, definitey the right decision to keep the Saleen! Now go kick some GT500 butt!
As heavy as these S197 pigs are (3600 for me) I could never see trading in for a 300lb heavier version of a S197..even with the better potential 5.4. I mixed it up with some Evos over the weekend on a road course and our weight really eats away from our straight line advantages when you enter the turns. Unless your just want a drag queen I think the 500-600 crank hp level is the most you need and the 4.6 delivers that.
jazzer my dealer really has no clue, theres one mustang enthusist at my dealer, but he had no idea what an extreme was, a black jack, a p51, a track pack, so Im good, I have been super busy at work so tomarrow I am gonna stroll in and take the 500 for a spin, I doubt im interested at all but if he really thinks its just a used gt and the price is according its gonna be hard not to flip it, you have to remember how cheap I got my f150 for, they let me have it for 30k less than msrp, ive had it for 8 months and only have 450 miles on it. just cant not drive the pony
im still trying to figure that out, It was 46k to start, a loaded f150 fx exteme sport, I had just bought the roush, my expedition was in their body shop due to a car jacking, it was blue booked at only 6k, the 07 f150 got a 2k cash allowance, and 2k back and so they ended up giving me 13900 or so for the expedition plus the msrp for the 07 base model plus the rebates and the cash back, and I ended up only owing 15,900. and they agreed to put black stripes like the roush at their expense...

I'm glad the KR is offered with 18" wheels. What's the weight everyone feels the Mustang GT could be at if a higher price was allowed for lighter but superior materials??? Erik
