So heres a long story short... I reubuilt a 1989 5.0 mustang engine about a year ago and spent about $600 getting my block reconditioned, bored out and all that. One stupid thing I did was went into rebuilding this thing trying to save money, so what I did was bought used heads and used upper and lower intake. I got the entire motor together to find out I had a coolant leak into my engine and it made all that nasty chochlate milk stuff. I decided to just give it to some experts and have them fix it. They ended up tearing the whole thing apart changing out the timing cover gasket, lower intake gaskets. BUT it still leaked! so then they took the heads off and I went and got them checked for cracks and milled and ported. After about $1600 later they finished and gave it back to me saying it pressure tested fine and it had no leaks. Now its the summer and I started it up drove it about 5 miles and checked the oil the next day. Im not 100% positive but I checked the oil out and I swear its still leaking. It doesnt have the chocolate milk mix, it looks like oil but when i put my finger in it i swear it looks like water runs down my finger and the rest of the oil stays up on top. AND its i swear i still smell that oil coolant mix SMELL. I dunno if they tried to trick me and just put water for coolant thinking it wouldnt mix?? or does it still make the milky stuff? Im not sure if the block is cracked or if it could be a cracked lower intake? Im very fed up with it all anyone got any suggestions?

If you drain the oil real slow, meaning loosen the drain plug but leave it in the coolant would come out first.

that old milky stuff can be tuff to get rid of, they may have fixed the problem but you still got the old stuff hanging in ther yet, that stuff sticks to everything. an old trick i used was to add a quart of tranny oil to the engine oil, let it run about a half hour or at least 10 min after reaching operating temp then drain the oil and change the filter. tranny oil is a high detergent oil making it an excellent cleaner. that should get the rest of that stuff outta there. hopefully thats all it is. good luck

yes he is correct about the tran oil or you can just buy a few quarts of motor flush and flush it a few times, then flush your radiator and hose', then do a good oil change, if problem persists, your block heads or lower intake its cracked, or you have blown head gasket/gaskets

what you really need to do is take it to a shop that has an oil flush machine..we have one by BG products ..if you can find a shop with such.. I'd do that cause to get all that stuff out initially if it wasn't flushed can take alot of oil changes
