The only problem I have is when they try to adopt. What is the 'divorce' rate among life partners? Astronomical from the accounts I have read and most of those 'divorces' were the result of infidelity directly related to their more, shall we say, permisquous lifestyles.
I wouldn't care if their divorce rate is 99% they still should be given the right to be married.
But I agree with you on the adoption thing.
yeah its not a healthy relationship, I have a friend that is gay. he believes the same thing that civil unions yes adoption no.

As for adoption, who really knows? There are LOUSY straight parents just as sure as there are LOUSY gay parents.
that is not the point. kids in school will wonder why there are two dad's at a parent teacher conference...and they won't just shrug it off, especially in today's world where several teens will label anything they don't approve of as being gay.
"that car is gay"
"this food is gay"
"my girlfriend is gay"
"homework is gay"
"the way they play the game is gay"
etc
I would imagine the way it is now that it would be more surprisng to see a non-divorced couple show up that either two dads or two moms. Kids are going to hear that no matter if they have straight or gay parents, and it would be up to the parents to sit down and explain to the child the situation. I am going to assume that if the child knew no different from a young age, that having two moms or two dads would not bother them much at all, even with teasing.
A similar story. Back when I was in elementary school, one of my best friends came from a mixed household (mom was black, dad was white) which in 1980 in my small town was something of an anomoly still. I remember him being constantly teased, kids not allowed to play with him, etc... I had to ask my parents about it, because I just did not understand WHY it was not OK to play with the guy, or what the big deal was.
I still remember my dad's response, and it still stays with me to this day:
"Some people are just stupid, Brian."
Everyone has been teased at one point or another, it is a part of life. You can either let it turn you into a big pansy, or after a while it just loses the effect it had. I have been a skinny guy my entire life. It quit bugging me when I was 5. Why should I let it bother me?

That got a little long-winded, sorry.
Excellent life lesson, everyone has to learn it at some point.
Eh, I think it is a good move. There are too many important rights (hospital visitation, insurance) that gay couples that are together for ages and ages should have. I don't care about the religious aspect of it, and I don't think marriage is necessarily between woman and man... tho to be frank, I don't care if they call it civil union either; who gives a crap, as long as you have the same basic legal rights?
Oh, and a Stanford study of Danish couples (can't do it here, we don't have gay marriage) found that the average divorce rate of hetero couples was 47 percent, and 17 percent for gay couples.
The adoption thing I don't care about either; the only issue IMO is the whole "you will be made fun of for being different" thing, but to me that isn't enough to make adoption a no-no for gays. Gay parents better be damn careful tho, as their kids will be targets in many places. However, I know plenty of gay people I think would be wonderful parents and influences in peoples lives, so...
Anyway, good move; doesn't really affect me at all, and makes lives better for a lot of people.

I don't dislike blacks, jewish people, and mexicans as a whole. I only dislike the majority that I have met or know of.
