Default setting tps help

1990 mustang gt 5 speed. Im trying to set my cousins tps and while the car is at idle its at 2.0 volts.then with the key on the on position and the engine off its also at 2.0 volts... the car is driving fine and the idle is good...im wondering if those numbers are ok or If i have to keep trying to adjust it

When I did mine, I have the car off.........ignition key on

Ground the negative wire to the black wire (not a grounding point in the car), and positive to the green wire....

Keep it under 1 volt...

.96 - .98 is ideal

oh maybe i did it wrong, I put the negative one on a screw instead of the black wire. would that cuase it to read wrong
?

yes it will read wrong that way, not sure if it will be off by a full volt, but for sure it will read wrong
