A lot depends on your cam and where you drive. What you really want to know is effective cylinder pressure, or cold cranking pressure. You want that to be in the 180-190psi range.

My static compression is 10.8. With a big cam and high altitude, I usually run mid grade without any problems.

You can go as high as want. You need to decide what your plans arefor thethe engine. What will it be used for?Example's: will it be fortrack,street,track/street,show,weekend cruiser, trailor queen, future FI,etc.. Be honest with yourself about it's use then decide what kind of compression you want.

remember you can get decent power numbers with a 9.1 ratio and not have to run the hot sauce!

You will have to go with a different intake and larger.

11:1 is a fairly good cut-off point for pump gas.

Custom camshaft will assist you greatly.

get a nice set of aluminum heads and keep compression at a pump gas friendly 10 to 10.5 to 1 and you'll be fine
