I am putting my 66 289 back together and am having an issue with the A/C. The strut (as I call it) that goes from the top of the compressor to the intake is the problem. I am running an Edelbrock intake, so nothing lines up. Is this thing necessary? I have seen some cars without it. My car was a smog car, so I was wondering if it was unique to them. If it is necessary, I may have to make a new one. Thanks
You have to use it. It helps stabalize the compressor. You may get a smal vibe without it.
